My Two Favorite Snoring Treatments

May 28th, 2009 Charles No comments

A lot of people are looking for decent snoring treatments that they can start to use to help fix this problem, but really don’t know of any. I suppose that is tragic because there are a lot of solutions out there. I have used many in my time. Some of them ended up working, while others did not work. I’m going to create a little post here that can help you identify which one would work best for you and your particular situation.

The Tennis Ball

Basically people that snore are lying flat on their backs. This causes loose tissue to fall into the throat and the air that you breath in/out will cause this tissue to vibrate. It is this vibration that causes the sound of snoring. All you have to do to stop this type of snoring is just roll onto your side. This causes the tissue to fall to the side and out of the airways. Seems like a relatively simple thing to do.

Since you’re not conscious when you’re asleep, you can’t force yourself to remain on your side all night long, so you need something to support you. If you sew a tennis ball into the back of a t-shirt, this will make a perfect device. When you try to roll onto your back, the ball will be in the way and you’ll go back onto your side.

Chin Strap

The Chin Strap deals with another cause of snoring. Basically your muscles go loose when you’re asleep and this causes two particular things. First, your tongue will slide back into your throat area and secondly your jaw will fall loose, which causes your throat to constrict in size.

A chin strap is designed to hold your jaw upright, which allows your throat to expand in size and prevent this problem. Click here to learn more about it.

Snoring Treatment With A Chin Strap

I think everyone is looking for a snoring treatment but really don’t know what they can use to fix this problem. It’s a tragic issue that people are completely left in the dark when it comes to curing a relatively simple problem. Yes, snoring is a relatively easy snoring problem to solve because science has pin pointed the issue. We all understand that the sounds are produced in the throat area, but it is the jaw that leads to the change in the throat. This is where the snoring treatment will have to focus, that’s why I like the chin strap.

Snoring is a vibration of loose tissue in the throat, but what happens is that when the jaw goes loose it causes the throat to get a lot of pressure on it. This pressure causes a constriction and the air going through the throat will increase in velocity to get through it and that causes much more violent vibrations than what you’d experience while you’re awake (which is no snoring). Basically if you want to fix the snoring problem, you have to close your mouth. That is the ultimate snoring treatment and no one really knows about it.

The chin strap is designed to hold your jaw up as you sleep and prevent this from every occurring. I’m sure you’re well aware that you can’t force yourself to keep your mouth closed when you’re sound asleep, so the chin strap is a relatively easy and simple snoring treatment to take advantage of.

Does Obesity Cause Snoring?

Obviously it does. The throat area is where the sounds of snoring are created. The tissue in their starts to vibrate and you get those sounds that you hear. The reason that this happens when you’re obese is that you end up getting a double chin. It is all this extra fat pushing in on your throat that leads to the problem. It’s an unfortunate side effect for being negligent with your health to begin with.

Obviously losing weight is about the best thing you can do to stop snoring. As you start melting the fat off your body, it will take a lot of the pressure off your throat and allow your airways to open up. It’s really quite simple physics, but the real issue is that losing weight takes a lot of time and a lot of hard work.

A Chin Strap should be able to help you out in the meantime. It will take you 6-12 months to lose any significant amount of weight and often you don’t want to have to wait that long. A chin strap is designed to help orient your jaw and this opens up your throat area automatically. The chin strap can also be effective if you’re really not interesting in losing weight. It’s unfortunate if that is the case, but I do understand that it takes a lot of hard work and a significant lifestyle change.

Forcing Your Husband to Stop Snoring

May 13th, 2009 Charles No comments

snoringhusbandThis is a post for women that have to put up with a snoring husband. I know this can be a real nightmare becauseit can be hard to tell your husband that they just need to fix this problem. Especially when someone just has to get up for work in a few hours, you don’t want to rip into them.

Here is how you get them to fix the problem. You have to find a solution that is exceptionally easy for them to apply. If they’re forced to make a huge lifestyle change, you’re just not going to presuade them to change. It’s too much resistence and no one really wants to make a major change.

Obviously you need a device that is going to be easy to apply. The more time and work to get something to work, the less likely they’re going to do it, so I have found the device that is going to save you a lot of hours of sleep because it is easy.

A snoring chin strap is a device that holds a persons mouth closed as they sleep. It is about the easiest solution for snoring problems because it just takes 5 seconds to put on before they go to bed. All you have to do is give it to them as a gift. They may give you some negative comment about it, but they’ll try it because it only takes 5 seconds to put on.

Once they see that it is working they’ll naturally use it. This will save your sanity.
