My Two Favorite Snoring Treatments

May 28th, 2009 Charles No comments

A lot of people are looking for decent snoring treatments that they can start to use to help fix this problem, but really don’t know of any. I suppose that is tragic because there are a lot of solutions out there. I have used many in my time. Some of them ended up working, while others did not work. I’m going to create a little post here that can help you identify which one would work best for you and your particular situation.

The Tennis Ball

Basically people that snore are lying flat on their backs. This causes loose tissue to fall into the throat and the air that you breath in/out will cause this tissue to vibrate. It is this vibration that causes the sound of snoring. All you have to do to stop this type of snoring is just roll onto your side. This causes the tissue to fall to the side and out of the airways. Seems like a relatively simple thing to do.

Since you’re not conscious when you’re asleep, you can’t force yourself to remain on your side all night long, so you need something to support you. If you sew a tennis ball into the back of a t-shirt, this will make a perfect device. When you try to roll onto your back, the ball will be in the way and you’ll go back onto your side.

Chin Strap

The Chin Strap deals with another cause of snoring. Basically your muscles go loose when you’re asleep and this causes two particular things. First, your tongue will slide back into your throat area and secondly your jaw will fall loose, which causes your throat to constrict in size.

A chin strap is designed to hold your jaw upright, which allows your throat to expand in size and prevent this problem. Click here to learn more about it.
