Snoring With Mouth Closed?
Anyone that reads this blog knows that I’m a big fan of the chin strap. It holds your mouth open while you sleep, but you can see in this video that you can snore even with your mouth closed.
What people often miss is that the chin strap isn’t designed to close your mouth, but support your jaw and there is a big difference. If you watch the video you’ll see his mouth open, but his jaw is still loose. The muscles in his face have gone back to sleep and that causes the constriction in the throat that we know as snoring.
Specifically you need more than your mouth closed. You need the jaw held up in a closed position. It works the same way with one of those snoring mouth guards. The mouth guard doesn’t actually support your jaw, but when you have a mouth guard in your mouth you’ll feel the need to bite on it. It is this biting that causes your jaw to remain in an upright.
Anyway, back to the chin strap. Here is what you need to know. It holds your jaw up to a closed position. The closing of your jaw will cause the airways to expand in your throat and you completely avoid snoring.
That’s really all there is to this snoring solution and it works pretty effectively for those that want something quick and easy to use.
